North East Link is a Victorian Government proposal to connect the M80 Ring Road to the Eastern Freeway.

On 5 December, the Victorian Minister for Planning released his assessment of the project's Environment Effects Statement (EES).

The Minister considered recommendations from an independent committee appointed to review the EES, more than 870 public submissions and advice from more than 50 expert witnesses.

Submission on the North East Link

Yarra City Council made a submission on the North East Link, following the release of a Major Transport Infrastructure Authority report on the potential environmental impacts of the project.

Our submission discussed the areas of greatest concern to the Yarra community, including increased traffic congestion, loss of public open space, and worsening conditions for cyclists, as well as the need to improve public transport options. Our full submission can be viewed here.
