Health and wellbeing is intrinsically linked to the liveability of a municipality. It's complex and is influenced by factors that are broader than individual lifestyle choices.
The Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (Health Plan) is the strategic document that identifies health and wellbeing priorities for the City of Yarra.
The 2021-2025 Health Plan outlines six key themes for addressing health and wellbeing matters in Yarra. These are:
- Assisting to reduce the harms from tobacco, alcohol, illicit drugs and gambling
- Promoting gender equality and reducing gendered violence
- Promoting physical wellbeing
- Promoting community safety
- Promoting mental wellbeing
- Assisting to reduce the health harms from climate change
At City of Yarra, our Health Plan is integrated into the Council Plan. To view the current 2021-2025 Health Plan, please view the current Council Plan.
In addition to the Health Plan, we have developed the Operational Supplement: Health and Wellbeing Activities 2021-25 (OSHWA). The OSHWA is an output of Yarra’s Council Plan 2021-25, and sets out the actions Council will undertake to protect, improve and promote public health and wellbeing in the City of Yarra
