The Youth Services team has a dedicated Education, Employment and Training Pathways Officer who can help young people reach their full potential within education, employment and other pathway opportunities.
We provide one-on-one support looking for jobs, putting together resumes, or getting advice on further education options, plus all these great programs:
Young Entrepreneurs Program
Yarra Young Entrepreneurs Program is a free program designed to give young people support in the development of their business idea, through business workshops, mentoring, links to local business people and business opportunities.
If you have a fantastic business idea or dream and you want it to come to life, then please get in contact about how to join the program.
Tertiary Work Placements
Tertiary Work Placements are advertised through universities and TAFE institutions. Position descriptions are developed for the types of placements we have on offer, which students are able to look through and apply for.
There is an interview process after applications have been received, to ensure the placement is meaningful for both the student and for us.
Experience Yarra - Work Experience
Experience Yarra (Secondary Work Experience) brings together Yarra City Council as an employer of choice and the secondary school students in a program designed to help young people understand the breadth and diversity of Yarra's service to community. This program supports a stronger career pathways for local young people.
Over the course of 1 week various business units within Yarra Council will open their doors to a select group of year 10 students and facilitate a work experience program which moves beyond the traditional model of work experience. Get in touch for more information!
