A closed planning file is a planning application on which a decision has already been made.
To access a closed planning file you need to lodge a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
How long does it take to retrieve a closed file?
For some files (2018 and prior) it may take up to 5 business days to access the file.
This is because the file is a physical (paper) file and is being stored off-site in archives.
How much does it cost?
As of 1 July 2021, the freedom of information request fee is $30.10.
There may also be a fee applicable for the retrieval of a physical file. Fees are to cover the costs associated with providing copies of information, including the administrative costs involved in searching for and obtaining documents.
What information will I be able to see?
- Application decision
- Endorsed plan(s) and documents
- Officer Report
In accordance with the Information Privacy Act (2000), on a closed planning file, Yarra City Council officers cannot provide any information that contains personal information. When you view a closed file, you will be required to read and comply with the closed planning files protocol.
