How to access closed planning files

 

A closed planning file is a planning application on which a decision has already been made.

How long does it take to retrieve a closed file?

For some files (2018 and prior) it may take up to 7 business days to access the file.

This is because the file is a physical (paper) file and is being stored off-site in archives.

What information will I be able to see?

  • Application decision
  • Endorsed plan(s) and documents
  • Officer Report

Apply to access a closed planning file

To access any other document(s) on a closed planning file, you need to lodge a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

How much does it cost?

The cost of retrieving these documents is

  • Residential requests is $160.60
  • Other (mixed use/commercial/industrial/mulit unit) request is $429.50

There may also be a fee applicable for the retrieval of a physical file. Fees are to cover the costs associated with providing copies of information, including the administrative costs involved in searching for and obtaining documents.

Privacy

In accordance with the Information Privacy Act (2000), on a closed planning file, Yarra City Council officers cannot provide any information that contains personal information. When you view a closed file, you will be required to read and comply with the closed planning files protocol.
