Council has received an application for the full demolition of No. 223-229 Johnston Street, partial demolition of No. 369 Gore Street and the construction of a twelve storey building with roof terrace (plus three basement levels) for use as dwellings with a ground floor restricted retail premises and food & drinks premises (no permit required for all uses), a reduction in the car parking requirements associated with the restricted retail premises and food & drinks premises and alteration of access to a road zone, category 1.

Features of the proposal include:

Full demolition of No. 223-229 Johnston Street;
Partial demolition of No. 369 Gore Street with the retention of northern and part of the eastern boundary walls;
A 599sqm restricted retail premises with direct access to Johnston Street;
A 81sqm food and drinks premises with access from the building entrance from Gore Street;
A total of 113 dwellings comprising of 7 x 3 bedroom duplexes, 30 x 3 bedroom apartments, 56 x 2 bedroom apartments and 20 x 1 bedroom apartments;
153 car parking spaces are provided across three basement levels, accessed from a right-of-way from Argyle Street;
134 bicycle spaces (113 resident spaces within two secure rooms, 7 staff spaces within a secure room and 14 spaces for visitors/customers accessed via Gore Street).
