Council has received an application for for part demolition of the existing hotel, the construction of a seven storey building, the use of the land for a residential hotel (serviced apartments), food and drink premises and shop, a reduction in the car parking requirement and alterations to the access to a road in a Road Zone, Category 1 by removing the crossover to Swan Street at 291-295 Swan Street, Richmond.

Features of the proposal include

Part demolition of the existing hotel building, including the entire single storey component to the east of the original three storey hotel building.
Construction of a seven (7) storey building.
The ground floor consisting of a food and drink premises in the ground floor of the retained hotel building, two shops facing Swan Street to the east of the Swan Street frontage, the lobby and reception for the residential hotel, amenities, mechanical plant equipment, bin storage area and bicycle parking.
The first to the fifth floors consisting of 59 serviced apartments as part of the residential hotel, including 14 studio apartments, 44 one-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment.
Vehicle access proposed from Coppin Street to the undercroft car parking area containing seven car parking spaces and a loading bay space.
A total of 16 bicycle parking spaces near the Coppin Street driveway entrance.
