What is after school care?
After school care is a fully supervised education and care program for primary school-aged children, held in a safe and stimulating environment.
The after school care program follows the National Quality Framework, including the Education and Care Act & Regulations 2011 and the National Quality Standards.
We operate after school care at two sites across the City of Yarra.
What do children do at an after school care program?
Our goal is to create an environment where the needs, interests and requests of the children are supported and extended by qualified staff.
Our programs are child focused and led by the interest of the children.
As a team, we plan activities and provide resources based on our experiences with the children, observations and feedback from children, families and educators. Although a program plan is in place, what occurs on the day is flexible and adapted on the day as directed by the children.
How do I enrol my child into an after school care program?
Our services are now subscribed to our online enrolment management program called QK Enrol using the My Family Lounge service.
You will be able to register, create and update your enrolment details, emergency contacts and vital health information for your child when using the desktop site on a compatible device: information is simply added into the online enrolment form.
How do I register?
You will be required to enter your email address and a chosen password before selecting the Register button.
You will then need to enter your given name and surname along with your email address before selecting the Register button button again.
A confirmation email will be sent to you and you will need to select thebutton to complete the registration process.
Once registered, families can log in and commence the enrolment process for their child, adding information as necessary. You will be required to upload relevant documentation, including Immunisation Status Certificate (as required by law), information about your child’s health and medical conditions if applicable (ie: medical management plan) and current Health Care Card if applicable.
When completed, you will need to select thebutton.
Children must be enrolled to attend our after school care program. There is no cost to enrol and it is recommended as you may then use the after school care should you need to unexpectedly. Please allow up to one week for your enrolment to be processed and confirmed.
These are entered using the attached bookings form and returned to us via email.
Alternatively, you can make contact with the service directly via text, phone call or in person.
Please note, casual bookings in addition to permanent days will be charged at the casual rate.
Two weeks notice is required to cancel a confirmed casual booking without charge.
Bookings will not be accepted less than 20 minutes before the program start unless due to an emergency. The program can book out. Please do not assume you have a place until a confirmation is received. If you are booking on the day, please ensure you contact the school so they can advise your child.
It is very important that you advise us when your child will not be attending a session they are booked for. If the program is not informed, that triggers a lost child response from us. This could include phone calls to family and emergency contacts, searches of the school and surrounding areas and phone calls to the police.
How much does after school care cost?
Regular bookings cost $18.40 per day and casual bookings cost $20.95 per day. Fees can vary depending on curriculum day duration.
Families eligible for a Child Care Subsidy (CCS) receive a reduced fee based on their eligibility assessment. Please visit https://www.education.gov.au/child-care-package-families to determine your eligibility. For more information about the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you can contact Centrelink on 13 61 50 (or the multilingual line on 13 12 02).
The service closure time is strictly 6pm. All children must be collected from the program by this time. In the event of a late collection the following fees will be charged per child: $25.55 for the first 10 mins, $1.33 each minute after that.
After School Care account statements are sent out on a fortnightly basis.
All Outside School Hours Care accounts are required to be maintained with a direct debit from either a bank account or credit card. When registering for this service, you are able to:
- Elect the maximum funds that are direct debited, so there are no unexpected debits.
- The day of the week that the direct debit is debited, such as a Monday.
- In the case of vacation care and casual bookings, elect payment instalments over the term.
The service we currently use for direct debit is DebitSuccess and is directly linked to your account in our computer software. If your account is sitting in credit or at a zero balance, no funds will be taken from your account.
All account holders will need to download, complete and submit a DebitSuccess form before any bookings are confirmed.
To request a hard copy of the form or if you have any questions or feedback regarding this, please contact a member of the Outside School Hours Care team on 9205 5555.
