We encourage busking and street entertainment in Yarra. If you want to busk in Yarra you must apply for a permit.
Our busking policy sets out conditions for street performances, including rules for volume levels, performance times and appropriate performance locations.
Your performance must be within acceptable volume level, so as not to inconvenience the public or the operation of businesses in the area. If your performance can be clearly heard from the other side of a main street or within a habitable room, it is deemed to be too loud.
A Yarra City Council Officer may at any time instruct you to immediately terminate you performance if the Officer deems it to be too loud, offensive, dangerous or harmful to private or public property or you are busking without a permit.
