The Learning Bank

Mozaic of learning tools with books and computers

In partnership with the Victorian Government, Yarra City Council is activating a vacant former bank in Victoria Street for a community project known as the Learning Bank.

The Learning Bank is a new community space located in Victoria Street, Richmond, for residents and businesses to connect, create and learn.

For more information on the venue facilities and how to book, please visit our Learning Bank venue page.

From Friday 3rd May The Learning Bank's opening hours will change. We will be open Monday-Thursday (9am-5pm) and Friday (by prior appointment only). Key collection will only be available Monday to Thursday.

Bookings

The Learning Bank is a bookable learning space that hosts programs to support business and community needs.

We have a spacious open-plan room called the Training Area, and two small meeting rooms, Wattle and Lotus, which are suitable for meetings, interviews or study for up to 6 people.

Please note, this is not a private room. This is a shared space with several programs and staff during business hours. If you require staff to work-off site during your booking, please advise the Learning Bank team.

To make a booking call the Learning Bank on 0488 940 971 or email [email protected]

Thread Together store

Thread Together are a not-for-profit organisation that collects new, end-of-line stock from fashion retailers that would otherwise go to landfill and distributes them to those in need.

Case workers or local community support organisations can book an appointment for their client to shop for free at the Thread Together store at the Learning Bank.

This service is provided for eligible City of Yarra clients who are most in need.

For more information, view our North Richmond Thred Together Clothing Hub Policies (PDF, 168KB).

To book a 45-minute appointment email [email protected] or call 0488 940 971 or 9205 5555 and ask to speak to the Thread Together Retail Officer, Heather.

Thread Together’s service is delivered via registered charities and social service agencies. If your clients are not eligible for a clothing hub appointment, your organisation can sign up to the Thread Together website to receive clothing for your clients.

Volunteer opportunities

We are seeking volunteers to add capacity to our Thread Together and digital literacy programs at the Learning Bank.

Thread Together store volunteers will work alongside the Thread Together retail officer to support client clothing appointments, and the digital literacy volunteers will work alongside Learning Bank staff to support our drop-in digital literacy sessions.

Volunteers play a vital role in adding capacity to our programs, ensuring that we can reach and support as many people as possible. Many of our attendees have different cultural backgrounds and speak English as a second language. We warmly welcome individuals from diverse language backgrounds to volunteer with us.
