Streetscape masterplans look at improving the public spaces in Yarra. They may include our vision for better footpaths, street art and trees.
Trees, footpaths and parks are important elements of the urban fabric. Streetscape masterplans guide our decisions, as we build more welcoming public spaces in Yarra.
What is a streetscape masterplan?
A streetscape masterplan looks at improving the public spaces in an area of our city. It may include things like:
- better footpaths
- more trees and landscaping
- outdoor dining and seating
- new public art
- more bike parking
- new kerb outstands (wider footpaths at the intersecting side streets)
- better connections to public transport
- improved safety and accessibility for pedestrians
What's not included?
A streetscape masterplan only looks at public land that is owned and managed by Yarra Council. It does not consider:
- roads managed by VicRoads
- land owned by public transport authorities, like train stations or tram stops
- private land
- private buildings
