National Volunteer Week 2023: Celebrating Yarra's Diverse Volunteers
Friday 12 May 2023

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the community, making Yarra a more vibrant and enjoyable place to live, work and play.
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, taking place this year from 15 to 21 May.
This year's theme is The Change Makers, which summarises our wonderful Council volunteers and Yarra residents who generously work hard to help others and make our community a better place.
Yarra’s diverse volunteers come from many different backgrounds. They are crucial to the success of countless community projects, programs and events including:
- Youth mentoring through the L2P and Future Pathways programs.
- Social support through the Home Library Service, Digital Help and Chatty Café and Thread Together Store.
- Aged and disability support through the Companion Animal Support Program.
- Protecting nature and diversity through the Gardens for Wildlife program.
