Yesterday, Councillors joined our 2022 Annual Grants recipients for an afternoon tea to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work they do in Yarra.

In 2021-22 we provided a total of $2.3 million in grants to our local community. This year, we look forward to delivering $2.6 million across 281 projects run by local not-for-profits, grassroots community organisations as well as individuals.

From youth basketball programs and dance groups to social enterprises and community gardens – our grants support a diverse breadth of important projects.

These projects all contribute to the strategic objectives outlined in our Council Plan and target the areas of highest need  – whether it's improving social equity, protecting our natural environment or creating thriving, accessible and connected local spaces.

Among the funded projects were the First Peoples' theatre company ILBIJERRI, food insecurity charity FareShare, the inclusive and community-focused Fitzroy Lions Soccer Club and the Yarra Riverkeepers Association.

Applications for our 2024 Annual Grants will open on Tuesday 13 June and close on Monday 31 July this year. Visit our Community Grants page to learn more and see if your project might be eligible for funding.
