The Yarra Community Awards honour the everyday heroes who make outstanding contributions to our community.

Meredith’s story

Meredith has made a significant positive impact on sport in Yarra through her voluntary work with Helping Hoops Richmond – a free, multicultural basketball program for children living in the Richmond public housing estate.

Meredith has been a volunteer for almost a decade. In this time, she has become a role model to young people in Richmond. Participants in the program have said that she doesn’t just teach basketball skills, but also shares valuable life lessons and a positive attitude.

She goes above and beyond in her role by taking the kids on excursions and special events on top of their weekly basketball sessions.

Congratulations, Meredith – and thank you for your ongoing contributions to our community.
