The Yarra Community Awards honour the everyday heroes who make outstanding contributions to our community.

Ian’s story

Ian has worked tirelessly to help preserve our rich history and heritage in Yarra.

He has volunteered his time and expertise in civic design and urban planning to advocate for the protection of historical buildings and sites in the community.

Ian is an active member of pop-up local community groups, responding to local developments and protecting heritage that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

In the past 12 months, his efforts have included work on our remarkable heritage strip shopping centres, examining the Planning and Environment Act and working to preserve areas around Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens.
