The Yarra Community Awards honour the everyday heroes who make outstanding contributions to our community.

Miski’s story

In 2021, Miski received a Yarra City Council Youth-Led Grant, which she used to organise creative activities for younger members of the community in Yarra. 

She asked participants about their interests through a survey and then used their feedback to create a program of activities including pottery, nail art, baking and cake decorating.

Not only did Miski create opportunities for kids in the community to learn new artistic skills, make friends and develop their confidence, but she also created opportunities to employ her peers.

Miski has been described as a patient, calm and approachable leader. At just 17 years old, Miski shows strong leadership qualities and is a thoughtful and active voice when it comes to social justice issues.

Congratulations Miski and thank you for the wonderful contributions you’ve made to the arts in Yarra, especially for younger people.
