Ride2Work Day

Tuesday 27 September 2022

Cyclists wearing helmets and backpacks, cycling in a line away from camera across bridge

We’re putting on a cycle-thru breakfast on Wednesday 19 October in celebration of National Ride2Work day. So if you regularly cycle to work or have been considering giving it a go, here is the perfect opportunity to give the car or public transport a miss and join us for a croissant and a coffee.

The aim of the day is to encourage people to jump on a bike and get active on their way to work. Not only is cycling a great form of exercise, it’s also one of the easiest and most time-efficient ways to get around. Cycling:

Improves your health – gets you active and increases your heart rate
Saves you time - it’s generally faster than other commuter modes of transport
Makes commuting better - fewer cars are on the road
Increases productivity - exercise improves mental health
Limits climate change - doesn’t release greenhouse gases
Saves money - no public transport fares or fuel costs

So if you're feeling motivated, join us outside Rushall Station for a free breakfast and locally brewed coffee from 7.30am to 9.30am.

You can also find out more about National Ride2Work Day and get some tips to get cycling on the Bicycle Network website.

Our New Deal for Cycling

We recently adopted Yarra’s Transport Strategy 2022-32 which proposes a transport system that is innovative, efficient, sustainable and accessible.

The strategy also includes the New Deal for Cycling which is our commitment to providing better bicycle infrastructure on Yarra’s streets and bicycle network.
