Celebrating IDAHOBIT

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). IDAHOBIT is an international day of LGBTIQ+ inclusion.

Today is the day to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people and communities. IDAHOBIT is an opportunity to recognise the struggles of the LGBTIQ+ community, and a chance to celebrate our diversity and achievements.

On IDAHOBIT, people all over the world come together to take a stand against homophobia, biphobia, intersexism and transphobia. Today we celebrate how far we've come and acknowledge how far we have yet to go.

We’re flying the rainbow flag high today across all three of our town halls to show our support for LGBTIQ+ people who make our community whole. Today we celebrate you and commit to doing our bit to ensure that you are always safe, always included and always empowered.

We recently endorsed the formation of the Rainbow Advisory Committee, our first LGBTIQ+ advisory committee. The Committee will provide advice and support to council on issues affecting the LGBTIQ+ community.
