We're excited to announce that the Collingwood Leisure Centre pool, spa and sauna will reopen to the public on Monday 18 March following the successful completion of essential repairs to the pool.

Programs will gradually return to the Collingwood pool over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all pool users.

Women Making Waves program

The Women Making Waves program will return to the aquatic area at Collingwood on Saturday 23 March with the full complement of activities including the Aqua class at 6.45pm and swimming lessons.

As a result of the return to the aquatic activities the final Women Making Waves Freestyle Movement class will be held on Saturday 16 March.

Aqua group exercise classes

Aqua classes will return to Collingwood Leisure Centre with our new timetable effective Monday 1 April. Information regarding this new timetable will be released the week of Monday 18 March.

Learn to Swim program

The Learn to Swim program will return to Collingwood Leisure Centre for Term 2 commencing Tuesday 23 April.

Communication has been sent to students that remained in the Collingwood program, and students that relocated from Collingwood to Fitzroy, regarding their enrolment for Term 2.

New enrolments for Learn to Swim lessons at Collingwood for Term 2 will open on Wednesday 10 April.

Open Age Squad program

The current Open Age Squad timetable will run until Sunday 7 April as scheduled.

A holiday program timetable will run from Monday 8 April to Friday 12 April with sessions returning to Collingwood.

A new Open Age Squad timetable will commence on Tuesday 23 April for Term 2.

We will send students the new timetables once sessions have been confirmed.

What works were completed?

The works that have been completed during the period of closure include:

• removal of existing tiles and retiling of all walls and floors in the 25m pool, leisure pool, associated ramp and toddlers pool
• installation of a new entry point with stairs and a handrail in the leisure pool as part of the ongoing safety improvement works that commenced in May 2018
• retiling of the spa.

Why were these works required?

In mid to late 2017 single and large patches of tiles started to come away and displace from the pool wall due to issues with the tile adhesive. 

The works undertaken to the entire pool was required to permanently rectify and address the issue.
