Rediscover Victoria Street

Colourful children's artwork of food on Victoria Street roller shutters

We're supporting businesses along Victoria Street by helping them improve the appearance of their shopfronts. We invited primary school students to design 15 vibrant artworks that reflect the unique and diverse food and cultural offerings of Victoria Street.

The students were attendees of the Yarra Vacation Care program at Richmond West Primary School. We asked them to create simple hand drawn illustrations (food and/or portraits). These included self, family, friend’s portraits and/or drawings of items from local grocery stores, bakeries, cafe's and restaurants.

We believe that this approach will provide local community ownership and raise awareness that Victoria Street is also a place for children.

The shopfronts and roller shutters have been cleaned and replaced with the artworks.

These installations are part of our wider Rediscover Victoria Street to make Victoria Street a more vibrant and enjoyable place for you, your friends and your family to visit.
