Would you want to work with an employee who sleeps all day, is described by colleagues as “lazy and stubborn” and steals all the attention?

No? That’s okay - the doggie in the window of Beef’s Barbers is not for sale anyway.

Meet Beef - a 4 ½ year old French Mastiff who is the face of Beef’s Barbers and now our new #FacesofYarra.

His owner Shaun Ash, who also co-owns Beef’s Barbers, says the decision to work with his best friend came easy.

“Why would I keep my best mate at home when I can work with him every day?” 

This canine local is now something of a Richmond icon. He’s even amassed a social media following. 

“The customers and people in the area love Beef. We even get stopped going on walks by locals who recognise his face!”

So how does such an astounding employee get compensated?

“Lots of steak, it’s his favourite.”
