Choose to refuse single-use plastic this July
Wednesday 04 July 2018
Did you know that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the world's oceans?
About half of all plastic produced is single-use or disposable, like packaging.
Choose to refuse single-use plastic this July and sign up for the Plastic Free July challenge.
By using your own reusable shopping bags, remembering your reusable coffee cup and water bottle, and avoiding pre-packaged fruit and vegetables you can help make a difference.
Sign-up to be counted and receive tips to avoid single-use plastic packaging. You’ll be joining over 2 million people from 150 countries in making a difference. Avoid landfill, reduce your eco-footprint and protect the ocean from plastic pollution.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
• Set a goal of being completely plastic-free for one day, one week or the whole month!
• Say NO to “the big 4” – disposable cups, plastic drink bottles, plastic bags and plastic straws
• Use beeswax wraps, or a reusable container, instead of gladwrap to keep your produce fresh and plastic-free
Plastic Free July aims to raise awareness of the problems with single-use disposable plastic and challenges people to do something about it. You’ll be joining millions of people from 159 countries world-wide in making a difference.
Plastic Free July is now an independent not-for-profit Foundation with the mission of building a global movement that dramatically reduces plastic use and improves recycling.
