Join us from Monday 5 to Sunday 11 March for a range of events to commemorate International Women’s Day and celebrate the achievements of women in our community.

On Thursday 8 March, we will mark this global event by presenting the 2018 Inspirational Women of Yarra Award to celebrate the many inspirational women living and working in Yarra. The award is open to women, those who identify as women, or groups of women who make a contribution to the Yarra community either through paid or unpaid work, volunteering or simply by being inspirational in the way they live their lives.

All members of the community are invited to come along for the announcement of the award winner/s at a special morning tea, Thursday 8 March from 10.30am to 11.30am at Richmond Town Hall, 333 Bridge Road Richmond.

The community morning tea goes from 10.30am to 11.30am where the nominees and winners of the 2018 inspirational Women of Yarra Award will be announced. We will be joined by a special guest speaker, Kristen Hilton who is the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner and it will also feature performances by Yarra's Young Women and Gender Diverse DJ Collective, a showcase of art and photography by Ria Ganis, amazing wares from Sisterworks and delicious catering by the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre. This event will be Auslan supported.

Meet all of our fantastic nominees for this year's Inspirational Women of Yarra Award.

Over the week of celebrations from Saturday 5 to Sunday 11 March, Yarra will be hosting a number of community events including inspirational women guest speakers and panel discussions, DJ performances, art exhibitions, girls’ and women’s sports clinics, fashion shows and events supporting women in business. Find out how you can get involved in International Women's Day in Yarra by visiting the full program of events.
