Measles health alert

The State Government has issued a health alert for measles.

There have been a number of confirmed cases of measles, and some of these cases are believed to have been infectious within the Richmond area in recent days.

These places include: Metro trains and stations, including North Richmond, The Posty bar in Richmond, The MCG on Saturday 23 September for the AFL preliminary final, and other general areas around Richmond.

People who attended these locations between 19 September and 25 September may be at risk of developing measles.

People who visited Ikea Richmond between 6 September and 13 September may also be at risk.

Another case acquired measles in Romania and was infectious while on flight QR222 departing Romania (Bucharest) on 12 September via Doha Qatar, arriving Melbourne on 13 September on flight QR904.

What to do

Be alert for fever at rash onset, particularly if you attended any of the places listed. If you have symptoms please seek medical attention from your GP.

Symptoms may have started anytime from 5 September. New cases may show symptoms up until 13 October 2017.
