A new program being trialled by Yarra Leisure is providing local residents with access to the hydrotherapy pool at Epworth Hospital in Richmond.

The hydrotherapy pool is set at a constant temperature of 34°C, making it suitable for people with a range of therapeutic and rehabilitation needs.

Therapeutic benefits include:

• exercising in a weight assisted environment, thereby allowing for early mobilisation following injury
• buoyancy assists with strengthening, coordination and balance problems which improves movement control
• warmth of the water promotes muscle relaxation, increasing joint range and mobility and relieving pain.

Access is available for people of all abilities via wide shallow steps or a hoist. Friendly lifeguards will be on deck to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

When is the trial?

The trial runs for 10 weeks, starting on 19 September.

There are 4 x 1 hour sessions offered per week, on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.

Bookings are essential and can be made up to one week in advance.

Session times

Tuesdays - 4.30pm and 5.30pm
Saturdays - 2.30pm and 3.30pm

Cost

A 5 session pass is $33.50 and a ten session pass is $67.

Please note that access is not included in any Yarra Leisure Memberships.
