The Mars One mission seeks to establish the first permanent human settlement on Mars. It is a one way journey.  Dianne is one of seven Australian shortlisted Mars One astronaut candidates, selected from 200,000 original applicants.

Dianne was chosen for a mixture of professional and personal qualities. She has a special interest and growing expertise in sustainable food systems, critical to settlement on Mars. She's also a leader, team player, project manager and creative problem solver. She's worked in sales, marketing, emergency services and government. She's managed and worked in teams, she's cycled extreme distances and jumped from planes.
