In a Persian Garden - opera performance

Saturday 07 October 2023

A superb and rarely-heard song cycle celebrating Liza Lehmann, together with a generous selection of Gilbert & Sullivan favourites.

Celebrate the great Edwardian songwriter Liza Lehmann, in a rare performance of her beloved song cycle for soprano, contralto, tenor & bass.

In a Persian Garden is a setting of the renowned "Rubaiyát of Omar Khayyám" in which a philosopher-poet contemplates the beauties of nature, the essence of love, the mysteries of existence, the joys of wine, and the necessity of seizing the day.

This performance will be followed by a delightful selection of Gilbert and Sullivan classics, reflecting the themes of In a Persian Garden, sung by The Concert Party.

Ticket prices range from $30-35. Price includes tea, coffee and light snacks.

Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Victoria Inc. is an incorporated body and a charity. All ticket proceeds  go towards creating more productions. Apart from paying fees to key creative and musician roles, the Society and its productions are run on volunteer efforts.
