Regardless of your experience in early childhood education, there are a few things you can do to prepare your family for the leap into Prep. The transition from kinder to prep is an exciting time. It can also feel quite overwhelming and can be challenging to decide if now is the ‘right time’. As parents, there are so many factors to consider. That’s why we’re here to help!
Yarra's Childrens Services are pleased to present this free online workshop for parents transitioning from kinder to primary school. Join us for a free online discussion with a panel of professionals who will share their thoughts on what school readiness looks like.

ADHD and your child (free session)
Delivered by Emma-Rose Parsons, Psychologist.
This presentation is designed to help parents understand the different types of ADHD, identify challenges faced and to help develop skills to enable their child to advocate for themselves.
Neuro-affirming, practical, home-based ideas will assist parents to support their child to manage their stress and emotional regulation.
Learn tips, tools, and gain the confidence to have positive conversations with your kids, empowering them with information and relationship skills that will literally change their life for the better.

Body Safety for Children (free session)
This evidence-based program, delivered by ChildSafe, teaches parents and carers ways to support young people to keep themselves safe. Learn the language and tools to teach and empower children valuable and practical safety practices.

NAPCAN events (free sessions)
The National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) focus on the prevention of child abuse and neglect before it starts. To promote this message, Child Protection week runs during September to educate, inform and support communities.
The essence of National Child Protection is to promote a safe and supported life for every child, now and into the future. The time to act is now.
The theme for 2023 is 'Every child, in every community, deserves a fair go' with the additional message of 'Where we starts matters'.

Parental Burnout (free session)
Attend an interactive discussion delivered by Frances Bilbao, Clinical Psychologist and founder of Mums Matter Psychology Group.
This webinar will help if you are finding the stress of parenting difficult to manage. When daily stress becomes chronic it can turn into parental burnout. This is an intense exhaustion that leads parents to feeling detached from their children and unsure of their parenting abilities, distinct from other forms of burnout.
