Biodiversity Arts Team (BATs): art workshops for seniors

Thursday 02 September 2021 - Wednesday 22 December 2021

The Biodiversity Arts Team (BATs) group is open to seniors 65+ and meets on Wednesdays at the Willowview Centre.

The group is working together on a ceramic mural that will be installed in a community space and represents Yarra's wonderful biodiversity through art.

Art workshops and socialising

Workshops are designed specifically for the senior and elderly community. All levels of clay experience welcome, no prior experience required.

Sessions include practical clay art making and glazing workshops. We also conduct wellbeing activities such as Chair Yoga, Chair Pranayama, and Self-Shiatsu with the group participants.

There will be speakers on art, aspects of Yarra’s history and biodiversity, and local site visits. We facilitate access to supported digital learning use (tablets and instruction provided), information on assistance with living with ageing and how to navigate the government support systems.

Willowview is a place to relax and share your week with others together. Morning coffee/tea and light lunch provided for a small fee.

How do I join in?

The BATs Group is open to Yarra Residents who are aged 65+ and registered through My Age Care

Workshops are held once a week at 10am on Wednesdays at the Willowview centre.
