Resurrection
Friday 04 December 2020 - Saturday 19 December 2020
Resurrection is the Off the Kerb 13th anniversary group exhibition, delving into themes of rebirth, renewal, resurgence, restoration and renaissance. It explores our responsibility towards the environment - as caretakers of the world we live in.
Scientists have attributed Australia’s mass bush fires to climate change. We have ignored their warnings on the effects of climate change, and only today, are beginning to understand the ramifications of our actions. Why does it take such mass devastation for us to understand our impact on nature and the environment? If we could live in a utopia where we live in harmony with our natural surrounds, why are we choosing an alternative way of life and one of destruction?
The only way forward for our well being and the sake of environmental preservation is a complete renaissance in the way we exist.
Fifty local emerging to mid career artists have presented works surrounding the themes of this show. This exhibition aims to raise awareness for our urgent need to act now to address climate change, and to spotlight on Wala Animal Sanctuary for the significant work they are doing in rescuing and rehabilitating our native wildlife from 2019-2020 bushfires.
