This National Sorry Day, pay tribute to the Stolen Generations and their families at the site of the Stolen Generations Marker in Atherton Gardens.

Join City of Yarra, Connecting Home and Link-Up Victoria on National Sorry Day, 26 May, from 2pm - 5pm.

This special event will be MC'd by Shiralee Hood: Noongar Kurnai Gundijmarra deadly female comedian, along with:

• A Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Wurundjeri Elder, Uncle Colin Hunter. 
• Keynote address by Aunty Eva Jo Edwards; a survivor of the Stolen Generations and a proud Boonwurrung, Mutti Mutti and Yorta Yorta woman.

With music from:

• Kokatha and Gunditjmara Songman and Storyteller Uncle Dave Arden and the Kokamara Band.
• Wotjobaluk man Uncle Brian Morley, who sings about his experience of being removed as a child.
• Christine Harms a strong Pitjara women, will sing songs of her past and growing up stolen.

Join us for a cuppa and barbecue, with light refreshments from Charcoal Lane, and a sausage sizzle from Rotary Club of Richmond.

The Stolen Generations Marker artwork and landscaped garden, Remember Me, was designed and developed by Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie. It was created to honour the struggles and resilience of the Stolen Generations. After thorough community consultation, the Stolen Generations Marker was adjacent to the Meeting Place in Atherton Gardens, an historic gathering place where many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people came to find and reconnect with family and community. Remember Me is a place of reflection and respectful commemoration.
