Youth mental health first aid training

Eating Disorders Victoria are running a training for adults who care for young people that are developing or in the middle of a mental health crisis from Thursday 14 February to Thursday 7 March from 6pm to 9pm.
The course runs for four weeks on Thursday 14, 21, 28 February and Thursday 7 March at Eating Disorders Victoria (level 2).
You will learn how to help adolescents by learning about:
- adolescent development
- the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems in young people
- where and how to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness
- what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
- how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
At completion of the training course, you will receive a Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation that is valid for 3 years.
This training has been made possible by a Yarra City Council annual grant.
You must book your spot. The course is $20 for an adult, $10 for a concession and $30 for a pair of carers.
