Narrating unbelonging from origins to endings: a share meal

Friday 23 November 2018

Join in a facilitated conversation with migrants and refugees and hear their migration stories over a three-course meal on Friday 23 November from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Studio Local.

The conversation will be hosted and facilitated by Associate Professor Sara Wills. Sara is a historian with an interest in hospitality, migrant belonging and settlement in Australia, as well as migration history and heritage.

Over dinner, the conversation will explore the departure, journey and arrival experiences of migrants and refugees as well as discuss multiculturalism and identity over a shared meal from Free to Feed

Free to Feed is a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to champion the unique skills and individual stories of people seeking asylum and new migrants. They believe that the best place to celebrate traditions and memories, stories and new experiences, is over a feasting table.

You must purchase a ticket to attend. Tickets are $15 with profits going towards Free to Feed.

This event is for those aged 18 years and over. Wine and beer will be available for purchase on the night.

This event is being held as part of the 2018 Being Human Festival. Founded in the UK as the only national festival of the humanities, Being Human is now a global celebration dedicated to demonstrating the breadth, diversity and vitality of the humanities.
