Each Thing has its Time exhibition by Carolyn Roberts
Wednesday 17 October 2018 - Sunday 04 November 2018
Come along to Carolyn Robert's free Each thing has its time/Chaque chose a son temps exhibition from Wednesday 17 October to Sunday 4 November at the Cambridge Studio from 12pm to 5pm from Wednesday to Sunday.
The exhibition's official opening is on Sunday 21 October from 2pm to 4pm. All are welcome.
Carolyn lives a life divided into two parts, two hemispheres. She spends half of her life in Melbourne and the other half in rural Normandy. This constant shifting between two very different places continues to influence her work.
Her work has long been concerned with questions of time and place, navigation and dislocation. She usually prefers to examine the small rather than big picture, so her works are concerned with the minutiae of the landscape and the small details of life, as a response to her immediate environment.
By detailed examination of her surroundings and observation of the seasons, Carolyn asks questions concerning our sense of place in the world, in relation to memory and the passage of time.
She is interested in the rhythms of the natural world and the concept of cyclical time as it exists alongside linear measurement of time.
In these latest works she is thinking about being present in the moment and witnessing the passing of time.
