Fringe Furniture 32

Fringe Furniture is the radical-furniture-jewel in the Melbourne Fringe crown, both a celebration of what is possible and of the artisans who thought it so.

Ensconced in its home at the Abbotsford Convent, Fringe Furniture is a veritable playground of ideas, an exhibition where design meets possibility meets provocation meets beauty, a chance for artists to think outside the box, re-design the box, turn the box into a hat-stand and then set the hat-stand on fire. This standout showcase of market-ready and experimental design has provided a platform for artists and designers to exhibit their work for 32 years, making it one of the longest-running (and most beloved) design events in Australia. Proudly open-access, we don’t turn anyone away, so expect pieces from fresh-faced newbies with a unique point of view alongside industry stalwarts pushing the envelope of convention.

Notoriously playful and utterly surprising, Fringe Furniture plays by a different set of rules.
