Ironbound
Wednesday 16 May 2018 - Sunday 03 June 2018
Come along from Wednesday 16 May to Sunday 3 June to experience the first production in the new space at the Abbotsford Convent. Martyna Majok’s critically acclaimed and Pulitzer Price winning 'Ironbound' directed by Suzanne Heywood will have it’s Australian premiere at the Q44 Theatre located in the Sacred Heart Arts Precinct at the Abbotsford Convent.
“What’s most important in this life is this thing you have what no one can take from you.” At a bus stop in a run-down New Jersey town, Darja, a Polish immigrant cleaning lady, is done talking about feelings; it’s time to talk money. Darja with her husband Maks, left Poland in the early 1990’s in the pursuit of ‘The American Dream’ but the Ironbound of New Jersey is not the dream they imagined. Over the course of 22 years, and three relationships, Darja negotiates for her future with men who can offer her love or security, but never both.
The opening night will be on Wednesday 16 May at 8pm.
Sessions from Thursday 17 May to Sunday 3 June will begin at 8pm Tuesday to Saturday and 6pm on Sundays.
There will be a strict lock out policy for all performances.
Tickets are $50 to the opening night (includes glass of sparkling wine and after party invitation).
Tickets to all other sessions are $40 full price, $34 concession and $30 for a group of 10+ guests. Funds raised are not-for-profit.
Make sure to purchase your ticket early to secure your spot.
