Queer Tarot Project: Multi-Media Exhibition
Friday 26 January 2018 - Sunday 04 February 2018
The Queer Tarot Project is a multi-media project, telling stories of the queer community through Tarot.
When rejected by traditional religion, the queer community has often turned to Tarot for guidance, connection, self-discovery and or spiritual belonging.
This project aims to de-mystify and bring Tarot back to its story telling roots, and remove the white, patriarchal and religious overtones commonly seen in traditional Tarot decks. These cards are from our new Queer Tarot deck, for and by the Queer community, representing our gender and sexual identities; telling our stories through Tarot archetypes.
This project is working towards further exhibitions, silent auction of prints to support a community cause represented in each card. Creation a deck of Tarot cards, video card interpretations linked to the cards with an invisible QR code and the making of a short film or documentary for the Queer Film Festival focusing on telling Queer stories about connection with themselves and others through Tarot.
Florence, the photographer behind the vision of the Queer Tarot Cards, is a geeky queer witch hailing from New Zealand, now living in Melbourne. A creative writer and self-employed web developer, she runs site called Create Magick. Her work brings self-love and positive queer politic together, telling personal stories about manifesting magick, freedom and creativity.
Exhibition includes, readings, large prints of the Tarot cards and visual projection of Queer stories.
