The objectives of Yarra Urban Agriculture Advisory Committee are to:
- advise and inform Yarra City Council of opportunities for urban agriculture initiatives in the City
- improve the awareness of urban agriculture
- share information and develop networks among residents interested in urban agriculture

Nominations for the committee occur every 2 years.
In early 2017 a comprehensive recruitment process was conducted. The next refresh is therefore expected to occur in early 2019.

Why was the committee formed?
In 2009, an advisory committee including 6 community members, 1 Councillor and our staff was created to provide input into guidelines for the development of community gardens. The committee came together again in 2011 to provide input into the development of guidelines for planter boxes, nature strip gardens and urban orchards.
Followed up by the development of the Yarra Urban Agriculture Strategy, which was adopted in 2014.
