FReeZA Youth Committee

Do you want to help plan, organise and stage live music events and parties in Yarra?

Yarra Youth Services is looking for young people interested in joining Bean Bag Productions to help bring youth-led, local live music events, gigs and dance parties to Yarra.

If you are an artist, performer, DJ or in a band and you’re looking for a gig, we would also like to hear from you.

FReeZA Youth Committee gives young people the opportunity to:

  • learn about the music industry,
  • be mentored by some of Yarra’s best known musicians and artists,
  • learn about and gain experience in event planning and management,
  • be involved in the planning and organisation of key  music events, and
  • actively contribute to Yarra’s music and arts scene.

As a committee member you will gain valuable hands-on music experience and have the opportunity to plan, develop and manage events. You will also receive training and support in areas such as event management, committee training and leadership, artist liaison, stage management and technical production.

The committee meets on Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm at Yarra's Community Youth Centre (156 Napier Street, Fitzroy).

All events organised by the committee will take place in a safe, drug, smoke and alcohol free environment.

How can I get involved?

To be involved you must be:

  • aged 12 to 25 years
  • live, work or study in Yarra
  • able to come to regular meetings

If you would like to take part, contact Gabrielle Nolan, Youth Development Officer, on 9426 1455.

The FReeZA program is a Victorian State Government funded initiative that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events within their local communities.
