Welcome to the Yarra Youth Services Holiday Program!

We have a selection of fun–filled, educational and energising activities foryoung people aged 12–18 years, who live,work or study in the City of Yarra.

Youth Holiday Program June/July 2015

Bookings for the June/July 2015 Youth Services Holiday Program are now open. 

Activities will  take place on selected week days from Tuesday 30 June - Friday 10 July.

All bookings and payments are due by Friday19 June 2015.

Please note: The program is open to young people aged 12–18 who live, work or study in the City of Yarra.  Twelve year olds who attend primary school are not eligible for this program. They are eligible instead for Council’s Vacation Care program.

WEEK 1

TUESDAY 30 JUNE
Circus OZ Workshop and Fitzroy Aboriginal Heritage Walking Trail
Learn circus skills from Melbourne’s own Circus OZ including trapeze and other aerials, acrobalance and tumbling, hula hoops and juggling and then visit sites of cultural and historical significance and learn more about our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

 VENUE: Yarra Aboriginal Walking Trail through Fitzroy and Collingwood, then onto Circus OZ @ 50 Perry Street Collingwood VIC 3064
PICK–UPS AND DROP OFFS
Richmond:    9:30am - 3:20pm
Collingwood: 9:50am - 3:30pm
Fitzroy:          10:00am – 3:00pm
What to bring: Wear comfortable shoes for walking and stretchy clothes for circus. If you are getting aerial or climbing stretchy jeans are best, a light lunch will be provided.

WEDNESDAY 1 JUNE
AFL Footy Day with Richmond Football Club
Enjoy a footy clinic hosted by Richmond Football Club with a tour of their elite training facility, followed by the Sports Museum at the MCG.

Fitzroy:         10:00am - 3:30pm
Richmond:    9:30am - 3:00pm
Collingwood: 9:40am - 3:20pm
What to bring: Wear your team jerseys, footy boots (if you have them) or comfortable sports shoes and sporty clothes.  A light lunch will be provided.

THURSDAY 2 JULY
2,3,4 Fun Galore
Ride Go-Karts, play mini-golf and Laser Tag with all your school holiday buddies.

VENUE/Address: 234 Ballarat Rd Braybrook
PICK–UPS AND DROP- OFFS:
Richmond: 10.40am –3:15pm 
Collingwood: 11am –3.00pm 
Fitzroy: 10:20am– 3:30pm
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing, preferably red; the fastest colour. A light lunch will be provided.

FRIDAY 3 JULY
Circus OZ: But Wait…There’s More Show            
Two hours of pure entertainment from Melbourne’s own Circus OZ.
 

VENUE/Address: Under the Big Top @ Birrarung Marr
PICK–UPS AND DROP- OFFS:
Richmond:          11:20am - 4:30pm
Collingwood:      11:00am – 4:40pm
Fitzroy: 10:30am – 4:20pm
What to bring: Dress for an afternoon of spectacular theatre and circus under The Big Top. A light lunch will be provided.

 

WEEK 2

TUESDAY 7 JULY
IMAX, Melbourne Museum and Lunch on Lygon
Watch Pandas in 3D: A Journey Home at IMAX, then discover more creatures at Melbourne Museum followed by lunch on Lygon Street.

Collingwood: 10:20am - 3:40pm
Fitzroy:          10:40am - 4:00pm
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing. Fury animal onesies are not discouraged. A light lunch will be provided.

WEDNESDAY 8 JULY (FREE)
Games with YMCA
Enjoy a fun-filled day of games at Collingwood Estate with a BBQ in the afternoon.

VENUE/Address: Youth Space, 253 Hoddle Street, Collingwood

Richmond: 10:40am -3:20pm
Collingwood: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Fitzroy: 10:20am -3.40pm
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes and wear your best game face! A BBQ lunch will be provided.

THURSDAY 9 JULY
Latitude and Possum Hollow Park
Defy gravity, forget the everyday and become an aerial superstar. Prepare to be blown away by the first integrated trampoline and climbing park in Australia.

Fitzroy: 10:10am – 4:00pm
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing capable for all sorts of upside down acrobatics. A light lunch will be provided.

FRIDAY 10 JULY
Later Skater end of holidays Skate & PUNK PARTY!
Celebrate the end of the holidays with a morning of skateboarding workshops, skate demos and an afternoon of punk/garage/ska/reggae bands and DJ’s as part of Yarra’s Leaps and Bounds Music Festival.
VENUE/Address: Edinburgh Gardens Skate Bowl & Fitzroy Bowls Club, North Fitzroy
PICK–UPS AND DROP- OFFS:
Richmond: 10:00 am – 3.30pm 
Collingwood: 10.20 am – 3.15pm
Fitzroy:  10:30 am – 3:00pm
What to bring:  Mohawks encouraged, denim jackets welcome too and comfortable clothes for skating and dancing. A BBQ lunch will be provided.

1. Choose up to four paid activities and any free activities you would like to participate in.

Return your completed form to Yarra Youth Services by: 

  • posting your form to: Yarra Youth Services Holiday Program, 156 Napier Street, Fitzroy 3065
  • visiting the Yarra Community Youth Centre (156 Napier Street, Fitzroy) weekdays from 3pm - 5pm
  • visiting Richmond Town Hall (333 Bridge Road,Richmond), Collingwood Town Hall (140 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford), or Connie Benn Centre (160 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy) from Monday–Friday between 8.30am–5pm.

Please note - bookings and payments are due on Friday 19 June 2015.

3. Make payment.
 Payment can be made at the Yarra Community Youth Centre by cash, cheque or money order.

Payment by EFTPOS can only be made at the Richmond Town Hall, Collingwood Town Hall or Connie Benn Centre.

Please note bookings cannot be secured without payment. If you have any issues with making a payment, please contact Youth Services on 9426 1455.

Yarra Youth Services will call you to confirm you booking.

Lunch and snacks

Yarra Youth Services provides a healthy lunch, muesli bar and bottle of water to each young person attending the program. If you would like additional food or drinks, please bring your own from home or bring money to purchase your own.

Cost

The cost is $17.50 per day or $3 for Health Care Card holders, unless otherwise indicated. Lunch is provided on each day.

People who have booked to attend the activities can be picked up from (and later returned to) the following locations:
