Access & Entitlements
During each School Term, Swim School students are entitled to attend one lesson per week at their scheduled day and time. Students on a Direct Debit Membership payment are also entitled to free practice swims at any Yarra Leisure facility during its opening hours, provided that all members under the age of 10 years are supervised by a person 16 years or older. Students and families must adhere to all Centre policies and procedures at all times. Free locker access and automatic re-enrolment each term is also included as a feature of the Direct Debit Membership.
Swim School payments made by Direct Debit are continuous from Term to Term, and will continue to roll onwards unless a request to cancel is made in writing. Once a Term has commenced, cancellation of the enrolment will only be effective at the end of the Term.
Swim School enrolments are for the whole Term, or the remainder of the Term if a late enrolment is made. Once a Term has started, cancellation of an enrolment will only be effective at the end of the Term. The last day to cancel an enrolment without penalty for the upcoming Term is the last day of the current Term.
Your application to cancel must be in writing, either by email to: email@example.com or by filling in a cancellation form at any of the Centres. Faxes and verbal cancellations are not accepted. If no cancellation in writing has been received, direct debits or charges will continue to be made from the nominated account.
Concessional discounts are available upon presentation of a valid health care or pension card. The enrolled student’s name must be clearly listed on the card. The concession card must be presented at the swim school office on the first scheduled lesson day in order to receive the discounted rate.
We will need to sight and photocopy the original card. It is your responsibility to let the swim school know if you are eligible for the concession and to update your expiry details with the Centre when you receive a new Card. If you do not update your details you will be charged full fees. Discounted fees cannot be backdated.
Unfortunately, due to restricted Instructor student ratios, make-up swim lessons cannot be offered under any circumstances. If a student has been ill during the Term, a maximum credit for the cost of two lessons per student, per Term, will be applied to the family Swim School account. A medical certificate covering the period of illness must be presented to the swim school during the relevant Term to be eligible for any credit. For ongoing medical conditions preventing attendance, which exceed 4 weeks, please discuss a medical cancellation with the Swim School.
If the student is enrolled by Direct Debit, a feature of the membership is automatic re-enrolment each Term and do not need to re-enrol for an upcoming term. If the student is enrolled by Upfront Payment or is part of a Family Membership, you will need to ensure re-enrolment by make a payment during the weeks indicated at the Swim School Office (2nd and 3rd last week of each term Term) for the upcoming Term. Change of Preference Forms are available during the weeks indicated at the Swim School Office (2nd and 3rd last week of each term Term) to request a change of day, time, level or venue for the upcoming term. A change of class is subject to availability at the time of processing the request. The swim school will notify you when the student is ready to progress to the next level.
Students are continually assessed during the Term by their Instructor and our Swim School Staff. Once all skills have been mastered, our staff will contact you to discuss promoting your child to the next level. Our on deck Swim School Staff can provide specific feedback about your child’s progress, however a Certificate of Progress will be awarded on the second last week of each Term with itemised skills.
Yarra Leisure Weather Policy
If the temperature reaches 40 °C or above at any Centre, or if there is an electrical storm at the Fitzroy Swimming Pool, your class will need to be cancelled. Cancellations of classes due to extreme weather conditions will be credited to your account to the value of the missed lesson. Swim school staff will make all attempts to contact you in advance of a class cancellation; however in some circumstances this may not always be possible.
