The Municipal Public Health Plan 2009-2013 (MPHP)
was adopted by Council in November 2009. The MPHP sets out the key health issues for the municipality and identifies how Council intends to improve health over the next four years. The plan is based on what we know about the health of people in Yarra which is detailed in the Health Status Report.
The MPHP also takes account of consultation with the community and is consistent with relevant national, state and regional health priorities. The health priorities have been identified as:
- Ensuring healthier eating and a physically active community
- Reducing and minimising the harm from tobacco, alcohol and other drugs
- Improving mental health, and
- Improving the health of Indigenous Australians.
