Priority of Access Policy
The Priority of Access Policy was developed to improve resident access to childcare and preschool services managed and supported by Council.
Commonwealth Priority of Access Guidelines apply to all childcare services and once applied any remaining places will be allocated according to the following Yarra City Council guidelines:
- Siblings of children already enrolled and who reside in Yarra
- Siblings of children already enrolled and do not reside in Yarra
- Children whose family or carer resides in Yarra
- Non-resident children whose family or carer works or studies in Yarra
- All other non-resident children in the order of residential proximity
It should be noted that within all categories priority will be given to the following
children:
- children in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
- children with a disability or in families which include a disabled person
- children in families on lower incomes
- children in families with a non-English speaking background
- children in socially isolated families
- children of single parents.
