Johnston Street Fiesta
Since 1978, Fiesta has been sharing the vibrant culture, heritage and traditions of Spanish-speaking nations with Melbourne.
The two-day festival attracts 50,000-60,000 visitors to Johnston Street, Fitzroy. The celebrations include stage entertainment, dance classes, Spanish cuisine and a street parade. In 2011, the Fiesta was held on 19-20 November.
In the past decade, Fiesta has won several awards in entertainment and community event categories and is considered a favourite by many Yarra residents.
Council funds Fiesta through its Community Grants program and enjoys a partnership with festival managers - the Hispanic-Latin American Festival and Cultural Association.
