Residents are invited to talk about proposed changes to the area surrounding Fitzroy Town Hall at an information session later this month.
Mayor Cr Amanda Stone said the draft Fitzroy Town Hall Public Realm Precinct Plan would be discussed at an information session on Saturday 18 July, from 10.30am to noon, at the basketball court at Atherton Reserve.
“This plan aims to improve the accessibility and amenity around the Fitzroy Town Hall, including Atherton Reserve, Whitlam Place Reserve, Condell Street Reserve and the surrounding streets,” Cr Stone said.
“These three reserves are each unique and provide quite different spaces for different local needs,” she said.
“The plan also proposes improvements to streets, footpaths, public spaces and parks, including a new soccer field and new playground in Atherton Reserve,” she said.
“We know some of these improvements have been long awaited and will be welcomed but we do want public input so that the final plan reflects community needs,” she said.
The draft plan can be viewed at Yarra Libraries, Richmond and Collingwood town halls and online at www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/consultation.
Interpreters will be available at the information session and Council officers will also be available to answer questions.
Written submissions about the draft plan can be made until Friday 31 July 2009.
Once submissions close, a report that considers the issues raised during the community consultation period will be prepared for Council’s consideration.
If Council formally adopts the Plan, funding for the works outlined in the plan will be considered in future Council budgets.
