2004/2005 Adopted Budget
At its meeting on 13 July 2004 the Yarra City Council resolved that its 2004/2005 Budget be adopted in accordance with section 127 of the Local Government Act 1989.
Some Budget highlights include:
- A total Operating Expenditure Budget of $88.190 million.
- A budgeted Operating Surplus of $2.964 million
- $16.8 million of Capital Works Projects – of this $5.7 million will fund infrastructure projects such as improvements to roads, drains, footpaths and transport; $4.9 million will fund upgrades to key Council-owned buildings such as libraries, child care centres, town halls and community rooms; and $2.7 for Open Space projects.
- A rate increase of 4.5 per cent to fund capital works, additional recycling costs and other significant cost pressures.
- A reduction of borrowings of $1.5 million from $17.2 million to $15.7 million.
- $1.4 million of Vision 2010 initiatives in response to community needs
