As restoration and reconstruction works vary in scope and size, there is no set grant amount available.

The Melbourne Heritage Restoration Fund (MHRF) assesses the individual needs of each application, and then makes a decision regarding the level of grant funding to be provided towards the costs.

Grants can only be applied for by the building owner.

The MHRF issues grants for a proportion of the total cost of works (up to 50%).

Approved grants are payable once the work has been completed to the satisfaction of the MHRF’s Conservation Consultant.

Loans

Interest-free loans are available from the MHRF. Loan repayments must be made quarterly and must be secured by a bank guarantee. The applicant must meet any costs relating to the bank guarantee.
