Friends of the Library
All Yarra Libraries have Friends groups, which hold friendly and informal meetings to discuss issues concerning their local library and Yarra Libraries. Their meetings are open to all interested library users.
The Friends
- discuss current library issues and possible improvements to their library
- make recommendations about broader regional requirements of the library service, to encourage its responsiveness to diverse community needs
- co-operate with other Friends Groups to provide input into the development of policies for the Yarra Libraries
Membership
If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Library contact your local library.
Meetings
Meetings will be held at times determined by participating members, as often as seems necessary. Anyone interested in participating is welcome to attend and will receive notification of meetings. Detailed policy or proposals, including discussion papers and draft submissions, may be developed in smaller working groups for consideration at larger meetings.
Public Meetings
Public Meetings about particular issues may be held from time to time. Notification will be given to all members on the mailing list, with wider publicity when appropriate. Normal meeting procedure will apply. Decisions will be reached by consensus wherever possible, otherwise by simple majority with the chair having a casting vote.
