Park users are welcome to use portable gas barbecues in Council’s parks and gardens on days without fire bans. Please act responsibly by always supervising your barbecue, disposing of all your waste and acting with consideration of other park users.
On days of Total Fire Bans, the following regulations apply:
You are not allowed to:
Within a property that you own or occupy, you may light a fire in a domestic appliance for the sole purpose of meal preparation, so long as:
A “domestic appliance” means a fixed or portable barbecue, or a fixed construction for outdoor cooking with gas supply.
A “dwelling” means a building designed for use as a residence, it does not include a caravan, tent or other portable place of residence.
Please be aware that if you do not comply with these rules on days of Total Fire Ban, then penalties will apply.
For more information about these rules, please contact Council’s Coordinator of Planning Enforcement on 9205 5015.
