The Yarra logo represents the diversity of our community. The different human forms represent all people – regardless of race, culture, lifestyle or economic status. The fluidity of the shapes relates to the flow of the Yarra River, which forms the border of much of the municipality. The four figures also represent the four municipalities of Collingwood, Fitzroy, Richmond and part of Northcote, which merged to create the City of Yarra in 1994. The figures are separate, but united.
The lower case "a" in the text of the logo and the use of vibrant colours reflects Yarra's eclectic, creative community and its commitment to culture and the arts.
