Smith Street Dreaming

The Smith Street Dreaming concert, one of Yarra’s most high profile events, is coming up on Saturday 16 July, 1–5pm.

Now in its fourth year Smith Street Dreaming continues to celebrate the First Nations footprint in Fitzroy and Collingwood. The event is a standout of the iconic Leaps and Bounds Music Festival.

This year’s event features local community band Stray Blacks, Hip Hop & Jazz Artist Lady Lash, Traditional & Contemporary Artist Yirrmal Marika, and high energy Hip Hop Dance Group Indigenous Hip Hop Projects.

Additionally, MC Shiralee Hood will facilitate a special Q&A discussion with the Smith Street Parkies. There will also be Traditional Dance by Jindi Woraback Dancers and a special Welcome to Country by a Wurundjeri Elder.

Smith Street Dreaming was recently recognised with a Community HART (Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together) Award. Council is encouraging everyone to come along and experience everything that is great about the Smith Street community.
